Short-Eared Owl Rescued from Inquisitive Sheep

YAWS received a call from Friendly Vets at Sowerby Bridge after this beautiful short-eared owl was rescued by a member of the public on the ground surrounded by sheep!

The vets did a fantastic job caring for her until YAWS transported her to raptor specialists 'Corio Raptor Care' in North Yorkshire for her rehabilitation.

YAWS will keep in close contact with Corio and will transport her back when she is ready for release. The latest update is that this girl is bright and doing well.

An Interesting fact is that she is a diurnal ground nesting owl, preferring moorland and upland areas, and can be seen out and about during the daytime, unlike most of our native owls.

What a privilege to see such a lovely creature
